The Unterlinden Museum is one of the most beautiful art history museums in eastern Germany. It offers visitors a collection that covers more than 8,000 m² of exhibition space. This former 13th century convent, which has been completely refurbished, is the setting for a journey through 7,000 years of history. Archaeology, ancient art, decorative arts and modern art are highlighted in this exceptional place. The highlight of the visit is the discovery of the Issenheim Altarpiece, a magnificent polyptych dedicated to Christ. The museum is only a 9-minute walk from your hotel in Colmar centre.

The toy museum is the ideal family visit in Colmar. Its vast collection presents more than 1,000 games and toys from the 19th century to the present day. The older children will be enthusiastic about sharing their childhood memories with the younger generations. The latter will marvel at discovering the games of their elders, and at finding their own classics. Cuddly toys, board games and construction games, Lego and Playmobil, Barbie and little trains, everything is there. The latter are even honoured with a particularly successful model making area. Just an 11-minute walk from your 5-star hotel in Colmar, it would be a shame to miss out on this outing.

Bartholdi was one of the major sculptors of the second half of the 19th century. As a child of Colmar, he had a vast residence there which is now a museum that allows his legacy to be perpetuated. We owe him in particular, hence his fame, the Lion of Belfort as well as the Liberty guiding the people, the real name of the Statue of Liberty in New York. Several of his works can be found in the United States. Today, the museum allows you to discover a significant part of his production of sculptures, but also paintings, drawings and sketches. In the heart of downtown, the museum is only a 6-minute walk away.

The Choco-story Colmar is the other ideal museum for families in the city. In 90 minutes and on 1,200 m², you can discover all the secrets of chocolate. To do this, more than 500 historical pieces retracing 5,000 years of history of the precious dessert are presented. Young and old alike also take part in some thirty interactive environments such as films, on-screen quizzes, 3D projections and virtual meetings. They learn while enjoying a playful setting. You will also notice monumental sculptures such as the Statue of Liberty (the most famous of Colmar) weighing 250 km of chocolate.

The Lauch River flows through the historic city centre of Colmar. The river was once used by market gardeners to transport their goods. Today, it is the tourists who use these flat-bottomed boats to enjoy the charm of the half-timbered and coloured houses of the old town. With the view from the water's edge and the tranquillity of a silent mode of transport, you can enjoy a magnificent urban landscape. A delightful walk, almost as romantic as in Venice and only a few minutes from your hotel in Colmar.

The Alsace wine route is not just an excuse to discover Riesling, Gewurztraminer and other wines of the region. It is also the best way to discover the cultural, natural and human heritage of Alsace. By bike, it's the best way, or by car, you will ride along these typical roads in the middle of the hilly vineyards, surveying castles, landscapes, vineyards and those who make them live every day throughout the year. You will take advantage of this route to follow courses in oenology, to learn how to match food and wine, and for the pleasure of tasting bottles that you will see nowhere else outside Alsace.

Riquewihr has been labelled for years as one of the most beautiful villages in France. This is not a surprise for all the tourists who, each year, come to spend a few hours, a day, a week. In Riquewihr, you can stroll through the old stone streets and magnificent houses, often belonging to the great winegrowing families. You will appreciate the half-timbered houses, typical of the region, and so well decorated with flowers. We also like these houses painted with lively colours, which are also quite representative of the region. Riquewihr is a walk through time. From the 3 churches to the Dolder and the vineyards surrounding the village, Riquewihr is more than worth a visit, only 15 km from the Esquisse Hotel & Spa.

Ribeauvillé is one of the famous villages of Alsace which make the charm of the region. You can also admire its typical, colourful, half-timbered houses. Many houses dating from the 16th century make up the architectural heritage of the town. One comes to discover the cultural heritage, in particular these 3 medieval castles which dominate the city. In winter, Ribeauvillé is a magnificent medieval Christmas market. Throughout the year, you will also enjoy good restaurants to taste dishes and wines of the region. All in all, Ribeauvillé is such an exciting town to discover, and only 20 km from Colmar.
